Third Russian AN-158 to Cubana Airlines
HAVANA TIMES – Cubana Airlines received on Wednesday a third Antonov An-158 passenger aircraft sold by Russia to the Caribbean island. The delivery was made at the Moscow MAKS International Aerospace 2013 hall, reported Prensa Latina.
The aircraft was made in collaboration between Russia and Ukraine, and will be used for domestic and regional flights, especially between Havana and the country’s far eastern provinces of Guantanamo and Santiago de Cuba, and the Dominican Republic and Mexico.
The contract of purchase of three aircraft of this type, each with a 97 passenger capacity, was signed in 2012, and the first two were received in April and July last year.
The Cuban airline executives and Russia’s Ilyushin Finance Co, sealed another understanding for the sale of three more aircraft over the next year, with the goal of reaching a total of 10 aircraft in that series, according to Kiev.
