Spaces Rented to Self-Employed Workers in Old Havana
HAVANA TIMES — The Office of the Historian of Havana, directed by Eusebio Leal, has leased premises in Old Havana to the self-employed, reported AP.
So far Leal has leased five storefronts directly to individuals, with their premises include restaurants, a hairdresser, a massage parlor and a nursery specializing in bonsai plants.
The agreements extend for five to ten years and are renewable by mutual agreement. No rent is being charged for the first three months so as to give the owners the opportunity to launch their businesses, reads the article.
The rental spaces in Old Havana could turn out to be very valuable to entrepreneurs, given the area’s location as a major center of tourism on the island.
