Two Killed and Dozens Injured in Villa Clara Province Accident
HAVANA TIMES — Two people died and 33 were injured, among them seven children, in a traffic accident that occurred yesterday morning on the road between the towns of Placetas and Fomenta, in central Cuban province of Villa Clara.
According to a Granma newspaper report, the incident occurred when the driver of a truck belonging to the Remedios Sugar Company lost control of his vehicle and turned over on the road.
Specialists of the System of Integrated Urgent Medical Care (SIUM), contributed with their rapid action in transferring and treating the victims.
The victims received immediate assistance and were taken to the nearby Placetas Hospital and to the Arnaldo Milian Castro and Jose Luis Miranda hospitals in the provincial capital of Santa Clara, where all of the injured remain hospitalized.
The Villa Clara office of Transportation is continuing to investigate the cause of the incident.
