Children’s Carnival in Guantanamo

HAVANA TIMES, August 17 — On the Sunday afternoon before last (August 7), a large crowd of Guantanamo adults accompanied the city’s youngest members as they all filled Guantanamo City’s Maximo Gomez Street to participate in the long-awaited Children’s Carnival.

Dancing and singing — as well as the sale of sweets, soda, toys and balloons — were within reach of even the smallest kids, who filled the streets of this easternmost city of Cuba with joy and enthusiasm.

Once again the procession of the “Guaracheros of the Caribbean,” represented by those tiny fans of traditional Cuban dance, proved themselves worthy of the carnival’s grand prize for the quality of their dancing and the magnificent design of their wardrobes.
