Danza Contemporanea de Cuba with “Compas”

elio2HAVANA TIMES — One of Cuba’s premiere dance ensembles, Danza Contemporánea de Cuba gave a stellar presentation recently at Havana’s Mella Theater of the work “Compas” (beat) with the choreography of Jan Linkens of Holland.

The piece includes rhythms of diverse origin: the human voice, Afro-Cuban percussion, guaracha, Bronx drums, mambo and waltz. The dancers, men and women, intertwine in a work that brings out pure emotions and includes quite complicated acrobatics.

Light, color, music and dance harmonize perfectly to summon the audience to enjoy life to the utmost.

  • Great company but the lighting at their shows is always terrible.
