Danza Contemporanea de Cuba with “Compas”

HAVANA TIMES — One of Cuba’s premiere dance ensembles, Danza Contemporánea de Cuba gave a stellar presentation recently at Havana’s Mella Theater of the work “Compas” (beat) with the choreography of Jan Linkens of Holland.
The piece includes rhythms of diverse origin: the human voice, Afro-Cuban percussion, guaracha, Bronx drums, mambo and waltz. The dancers, men and women, intertwine in a work that brings out pure emotions and includes quite complicated acrobatics.
Light, color, music and dance harmonize perfectly to summon the audience to enjoy life to the utmost.

Great company but the lighting at their shows is always terrible.
