Venezuela and Why I Was at the March

HAVANA TIMES, April 17 — This past Friday (April 13), I walked the streets of Caracas, like on many other occasions, with thousands of Venezuelans in support of the Chavez government.

I’m not a political analyst nor do I want to be.

I simply went out with my camera, walked for several hours snapping pictures, listening to people, dancing with them, and hearing their stories.

Ten years ago, many of these Caracas residents who today march with flags, slogans and jubilation, took to the streets to demand the return of a president elected by them. I’ve always admired the courage of people coming out to confront armed power.

So this April 13, I went with them.
