Cuba Earns Four Gold Medals in Judo World Cup
HAVANA TIMES — Cuba led the standings in the Judo World Cup in Miami, winning four titles on Thursday during the first day of the competition being attended by 129 athletes from 22 nations, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.
The Cuban judokas who climbed the winners’ podium were Dayaris Mestre (at 48 kilograms), Yanet Bermoy (52), Yartiza Abel (63) and Ronald Girones (73), while Yurisleidis Lupetey (57) took a bronze medal.
Today the tournament draws to a close with the participation of the islanders Onix Cortes (70), Yalennis Castillo (78), Idalis Ortiz (+78), Asley Gonzalez (90), Oreidis Despaigne (100) and Oscar Braison (+100), with possibilities for adding to the gleaning of gold.
