Cuban Badminton Tournament Valid for Olympic Ranking
HAVANA TIMES, Feb 22 — The National Federation of Badminton is preparing for 13th edition of the Giraldilla International Tournament of that discipline, to be held from March 21 to 25 in Pinar del Rio Province, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.
The contests are scheduled to take place at a multipurpose sports facility in that westernmost province of Cuba, with attendance to date having been confirmed by athletes from Mexico, Uganda and Venezuela.
Cuban badminton player Osleni Guerrero, the runner-up in the 2011 Pan-American Games in Guadalajara, is shooting for the 1,700 points that could be awarded in the competition and which would be valid for his qualifying for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
