Cuban Cyclists Seek Olympic Slots
HAVANA TIMES, Jan 6 — Cuban cyclists Lisandra Guerra and Marlies Mejias will participate in the third phase of the Track Cycling World Cup in Beijing, China, from January 13 to 15, reported the Cuban News Agency.
The event will award points for qualifying in the 2012 London Olympic Games and will be the second time these athletes have participated in the seasons World Cup events, after the one held in Cali, Colombia, this past December.
Guerra will take part in the keirin and individual speed competitions, while Mejias will attempt to join the squad of cyclists who will be racing in the omnium in the British capital.
Great to see Lisandra and Marlies steadily improving at last week’s event, hope we get to see you guys in London in the summer.
