Cuba Aid Caravan Arrives in Havana
HAVANA TIMES, July 23 — The members of the 22nd Pastors for Peace Friendship Caravan to Cuba arrived to Havana on Friday in defiance of the half century US blockade and the travel ban on its own citizens from visiting the island without special permission.
The group delivered for loading 100 tons of humanitarian aid including numerous school buses in Tampico, Mexico and then flew to Cuba to await the cargo. The donations were gathered as the caravan snaked to over 100 cities in the US and Canada during June and July.
The caravan’s leaders and the welcoming officials of the Cuban Friendship Institute paid tribute to Lucius Walker, the founder of Pastors for Peace, who passed on last September.
