French-Cuban Film with Padura Script
HAVANA TIMES – The renowned French director Laurent Cantet and popular Cuban writer Leonardo Padura, decided to combine their talents to create a new film about Cuba, which will be completed in early summer 2014, reported EFE.
“Return to Ithaca “, is the film’s interim name, and it was shot on the roof top terrace of a dilapidated Havana building, with the Malecon and the sea as background. It is inspired by the work of Padura “The story of my life,” namely in the episode when the Cuban who emigrated to Spain decides to return to his country fifteen years later.
“I think the film is about the great controversy of a generation (his) that was scattered and frustrated, that felt betrayed and had mistaken perceptions of reality and blamed those who were to blame for faults that affected them, “reflects the writer.
The cast includes Jorge Perugorría, Isabel Santos, Nestor Jimenez and Fernando Hechavarria in a film involving the French producers Full House and Haut et Court, and the Belgian Panache Productions and La Compagnie Cinématographique.
