El Salvador Elections Too Close to Call, Sanchez Holds 0.26% Lead
HAVANA TIMES — The presidential elections in El Salvador are still too close to call with over 91% of the voting places reporting.
At 7:25 p.m. local time the election authority has the governing FMLN party candidate Salvador Sanchez Cerén (1,375,682 votes for 50.13%) with a slight 0.26% lead over rightwing candidate for ARENA, Norman Quijano (1,368,757 with 49.87%).
The vote difference is under 7,ooo with 9,589 polling places reporting and 845 still outstanding.
Quijano was leading in six of the El Salvador’s 14 departments including the capital San Salvador. Sanchez has the lead in eight departments.
