The 10th HT Cuba Photo Contest: First Cut Survivors

HAVANA TIMES – It’s time to begin presenting the pictures competing in the 10th anniversary Havana Times Cuba Photo Contest. Each year we have made the call to professional and amateur photographers to share their pictures taken on the island.

The 20-member jury, which includes people participating this year from Canada, Spain, Ireland, Venezuela, United States, El Salvador, Portugal and Nicaragua. Five of the jury members are Cuban.

We received a total of 962 photos from 109 participants in the six different categories: Best Picture, Black and White, Cuban Countryside, Hope, Interiors and Intolerance. 

After the initial selection process, the jury picked 330 pictures to continue on to the second of the four rounds of selection.  Of the initial participants 79 still have at least one of their entries making the first cut.

We hope you enjoy viewing the pictures and look forward to your comments.  The pictures all have numbers so you are welcome to make you own selections. In this second round of picking the jury members were asked to select a maximum of 15 photos in each category.

The second cut pictures will be published the week of November 19th.
