Cuba Gov. Says Zapata Well Treated

HAVANA TIMES, March 2 — The Cuban government maintains that its health authorities did everything possible to save the life of political prisoner Orlando Zapata who died last week at the Hermanos Amejeiras Hospital in Havana after an 85 day hunger strike.

According to a report last night on the State TV news, Zapata was given “specialized care”, but his health continued to worsen as a result of so many days without eating.
