Filipino Journalist Percy Lapid, a Critic of Marcos & Duterte, Is Killed Near Manila
HAVANA TIMES – In the Philippines, a veteran 63-year-old broadcaster was shot dead near his home in suburban Manila on Tuesday. Percival Mabasa, who was also known as Percy Lapid, was a prominent critic of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his predecessor, Rodrigo Duterte.
He is the second Filipino journalist to have been murdered since Marcos took office on June 30.
With all the repression against the Filipino people taking place, how come there is no embargo, or even outrage against the Filipino government. After the Philippines and Cuba became independent after the Spanish American War, the US let them be independent countries, but they must submit to the US. The Philippines let the US control them and in return they were allowed to treat their people anyway they wanted. After the Cuban Revolution, the Castro government said enough is enough and that is how the blockade came to be. The atrocities committed by the Filipino government against their people , with their mass extra judicial killings still continue to this very day. Cuba’s repression has been nothing compared to the Philippines.
