Study on Mangroves on Cuban Coasts
HAVANA TIMES, Nov. 24 – Specialists with the Centre for Environmental Studies and Services of the central province of Villa Clara made an assessment of the situation of the mangroves in the area of Cayo Santa María, one of the tourist destinations on Cuba’s northern coast, Luis Reyes Suz, environment expert of that institution, announced. Those forest formations reduce the impact of hurricanes and avoid soil salinity, in addition to being home to a varied population of fish and crustaceans, reported IPS.
