Cuba’s Fidel Says Adios Mubarak

HAVANA TIMES, Feb. 2 — Former Cuban president Fidel Castro believes that “nothing will save” the government of Hosni Mubarak in Egypt, amid the massive unrest in that country.

Writing a commentary on Tuesday amid huge protests in the North African nation, Castro did not mention what the overthrow or stepping down of Mubarak would mean for the 118-member Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which the Egyptian leader currently chairs.

Mubarek has ruled Egypt for nearly 30 years and took over the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement from Cuba back in June 2009 for a three-year term.  On that occasion Cuban President Raul Castro attended and spoke at the handing over ceremony in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
