Raul Castro Travels to Angola
HAVANA TIMES, Feb. 4 – Cuban President Raul Castro begins an official visit Wednesday to Angola after traveling from Russia, where he carried out a week long visit with dozens of new economic and cooperation accords being signed.
Cuba and Angola have a longstanding close relationship dating back to the 1970s when the island’s military assistance played a major role in Angolan independence from Portugal, and later preserving it against South African Apartheid troops and their internal allies.
