First Meeting of the CELAC Troika

HAVANA TIMES, Jan 9 — The foreign ministers of Chile, Cuba and Venezuela will have their first meeting of the “troika” today in Santiago de Chile that make up the coordinating committee of the newly formed  Community of Latin American and the Caribbean (CELAC).

The meeting will be led by the minister of foreign affairs of Chile, the country that holds the pro tempore presidency of the group. The foreign minister will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Cuba and Venezuela.

The international body, whose next summit will take place this year, was established in early December in Caracas with the support of the leaders of the 33 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
