Jazz Artist Chucho Valdes Back in the US
HAVANA TIMES, Jan 16 — Renowned Cuban jazz composer and pianist Chucho Valdes will perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City on January 21 to kick off his latest US tour, reported the website Café Fuerte.
The artist will be accompanied by his group the Afrocuban Messengers and the Spanish jazz and flamenco singer Buika, while the repertoire will focus on Valdez’s most recent album, Chucho’s Steps, which won the 2011 Grammy Award for “Best Latin Jazz Album.”
Throughout January and February, Chucho will perform on more than 20 stages in New Jersey, Virginia, Connecticut, Michigan, Iowa, Ohio, Pennsylvania and California.
The jazz musician is scheduled to return to Carnegie Hall in April for a concert with the distinguished Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba, who resides in the United States.
