Raul Castro to Venezuela for ALBA Summit
HAVANA TIMES, 3 feb — Cuban President Raul Castro traveled to Caracas, Venezuela on Friday to attend a summit of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA) as well as an activity commemorating the unsuccessful 1992 coup attempt led by Hugo Chavez, who later became president via the 1998 elections.
Castro is accompanied by Ricardo Cabrisas, one of his vice presidents, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez and Foreign Commerce and Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca, reported the dpa news service.
The ALBA is currently comprised of Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, San Vicente y las Granadinas, Dominica y Antigua y Barbuda. The ALBA Summit is scheduled for Sunday, February 5th.
