Cuban 5 Member Asks for Permission to Travel to Cuba
HAVANA TIMES, March 1 — Cuban anti-terrorism operative Rene Gonzalez, on probation since last October, asked a Miami federal court last week for permission to travel temporarily to Cuba, reported the website Café Fuerte.
Gonzalez asked for special permission to travel to the island for two weeks, citing a family emergency since his brother is in a Havana hospital terminally ill, a victim of lung cancer.
Last September, Judge Joan Lenard did not deny the possibility of allowing Gonzalez to return to Cuba after beginning his supervised release if he met the requirements established for that type of request.
