Earthquake (4.8) in Eastern Cuba
HAVANA TIMES, March 10 — A 4.8 magnitude earthquake was felt in several southeastern Cuban municipalities in the early morning on Saturday. No injuries or damage has been thus far reported.
The Cuban Seismology Service said the center of the tremor was located 10 kilometers (6 miles) deep in the Caribbean Sea 86.8 kilometers (54 miles) south of Chivirico in the municipality of Guamá, Santiago de Cuba.
The quake, at 3:34 a.m. local time (8:34 GMT), was felt in the localities of Santiago de Cuba, Palma Soriano, Contramaestre and Tercer Frente as well as Bartolomé Masó in Granma Province.
The province of Santiago de Cuba is the most seismically active on the island.
