Cuba Protests Attempted ‘Theft’ of Baseball Players in DR
HAVANA TIMES — Cuban media reported today on the most recent attempt to “steal” players from the island. This news was referring to an operation in the Dominican Republic last weekend.
According to the article published in the Granma newspaper, the action dismantled a group of seven people who were involved in contacting Cuban players to remove them from the island, negotiate contracts with the Major Leagues, and through those actions receive “hefty sums of cash.”
Despite the headlines that called attention to the operation and the provisional release of the group, this type of undertaking isn’t new because it is tolerated and promoted from the United States, read the Granma article.
