Cuban Parliament to Convene in July
HAVANA TIMES — Ricardo Alarcon, the president of Cuba’s National Assembly, today summoned the deputies of the island to attend the Ninth Regular Session of the Seventh Legislature of the Cuban Parliament later this moneth.
According to an article published in the official Granma newspaper, the event has been scheduled for July 23 at the Havana Convention Center.
Cuban deputies will meet in commissions beforehand to discuss “issues such as the updating of Cuba’s economic model, the energy situation, health care and education issues, and foreign policy,” reported the Prensa Latina news agency.
The last plenary session of the National Assembly – which usually convenes twice a year – took place in December, 2011 when it approved the Economic Plan and the State Budget Law for 2012.
