Cuba/Honduras to Sign Maritime Delimitation Treaty in August

HAVANA TIMES — The signing of a maritime delimitation treaty between the governments of Havana and Tegucigalpa is tentatively slated for August, announced Honduran Foreign Minister Arturo Corrales on Monday.

Corrales added that the final date for the signing of the agreement will be decided upon by the governments in late July.

“We have discussed the latest details and exchanged notes accepting the terms of the agreement… and we hope to only set the date of signing,” said Corrales. Signings have been postponed on numerous occasions, reported the AP wire service.

Cuba and Honduras have been negotiating the treaty since 2002, when they resumed relations after a nearly 40 year break.
