FIFA President Postpones Visit to Cuba
HAVANA TIMES — The president of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Sepp Blatter, postponed his visit to Cuba until next year, though the visit was to have taken place later this month, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.
Blatter’s trip had been planned for October 25 in order to place the first building block for a synthetic playing field in Cuba, whose construction is set to begin in January 2013 at Havana’s La Polar stadium.
FIFA explained that sports politics related to the organization of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil forced Blatter to postpone his visit to the island until early next year.
