No Change Envisioned in US Visa Requirements for Cubans
HAVANA TIMES — US visa requirements for Cuban citizens will remain “unchanged,” meaning they will “still need a visa or valid permission to enter this country,” said US State Department spokesman William Ostick.
According to Reuters, on Tuesday the US government welcomed the announcement of immigration reform in Cuba, but American officials warned that this could cause “changes” in the flow of emigrants from the island and therefore asked for Cubans not to “risk their lives” at sea.
The spokesman said the US administration remains “committed to immigration agreements under which both countries support and promote safe, legal and orderly immigration,” but he made no reference to the “Cuban Adjustment Act,” which promotes illegal immigration of Cubans to the United States.
