Cuban Reservoirs Exceeding Historical Average

HAVANA TIMES — October rainfall allowed the amount of water stored in Cuban reservoirs to surpass the historical average for this time of year. That amount now stands at more than 1.2 billion cubic meters, indicated the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources on Thursday.

According to the Prensa Latina news agency, the figure represents 82.9 percent of the total fill capacity and exceeds by 953 million cubic meters the amount reported on the same date last year.

The Vento Basin — which serves more than 800,000 people in the capital city — “remains in a stable and normal state” according to the report. The nation’s reservoirs have enough water to supply needs until this coming April, in the dry season.
