Cuba’s ‘Juan de los muertos’ wins Goya for Best Latin American Film
HAVANA TIMES — The Cuban film Juan de los muertos (Juan of the dead), by Alexander Brugues, won the Goya award on Sunday for the Best Latin American Film, the highest honor granted by the Spanish Film Academy.
The awards ceremony was held in the Principe Felipe Conference Centre in Madrid, and was attended by the young director of the first Cuban film about zombies, who dedicated the victory to his wife.
With Juan de los muertos, Cuban cinema has now received its fourth Goya, an award dominated by Argentine cinema up until now, noted Prensa Latina.
