Cuba to Reach Two Million Cellular Lines in 2013
HAVANA TIMES – Cuba hopes to have two million cell phone lines by the end of 2013, said Hilda Arias, director of Mobile Telephone Services for the State telecommunications company ETECSA on Thursday evening on the Mesa Redonda television program.
According to the executive, right now 62 percent of all lines available on the island correspond to this technology, with over 1.750.000.
Among the complaints of citizens remain the need for an extension on the time required for the obligatory recharging, access to the data from the mobile phone, and reducing the price of services, still way beyond the purchasing power of Cubans.
ETECSA announced that, starting next year it will gradually become possible to use mobile phones to pay for various services and data reception will be established.
