Children of Cuba’s Sierra Maestra
HAVANA TIMES, June 1 – Cuba’s Sierra Maestra massif runs westward across the southern part of Guantanamo Province to Granma Province. Of volcanic origin, the range is the most rugged and isolated mountain system on the island, as well as being the highest.
With a spine averaging 1,500 meters in elevation, the Sierra Maestra rises to Pico Turquino, which at 1,974 meters is the highest peak in the country.
In this photo spread Elio Delgado captures this majestic area through its children.

Though I now live in Canada, I vividly remember my years spent in those lovely mountains back in the mid-1950s.
