The Russian government will open on Saturday a cultural center in Cuba, the first of its kind in Latin America, to promote the learning of the Russian language. Many Cubans studied Russian in the decades before the collapse of the Soviet Union, when the USSR was the island’s leading trade partner.

Yo Soy Tumbero

On Friday February 19, at 7:00 p.m. in the Sala Villena of the National Union of Cuban Writers And Artists (UNEAC, at 17th and H, in Vedado), will be the premiere of the documentary “Yo soy tumbero,” by producer Bilko Cuervo. The Tumba Francesa is a musical dance manifestation that was introduced in Cuba early last century through Haitian immigration to the island.
