Havana’s Sports City Complex in Sharp Decline

The dilapidated complex has become a metaphor for the state of sports on the island today.

Two events this past week pointed to the deteriorating (economically speaking) state of sports and athletes in Cuba.

I insist that for the Cuban (sports and political) system, there are emigrated athletes who are useful and others who are not.

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games have just concluded, and Cuba delivered its worst performance since Mexico 1968.
