Cuban Cinema Prepares First Horror Film

Cuban filmmaker Alejandro Brugués is preparing a horror comedy titled Juan de los muertos (John of the Dead), the first film of this genre produced in the island, the Cuban Institute of Cinema Arts and Industry (ICAIC) reported. The film, whose shooting will begin next September, is a co-production with Spain’s La Zanfoña Producciones. This will be Brugués’ second film, having previously directed Personal Belongings.

Film on Transsexual Premiered in Cuba

Cuban filmmaker Marylin Solaya premiered in the Cuban capital’s Charles Chaplin theatre the documentary En el cuerpo equivocado (In the Wrong Body), which tells the story of Mavi Susel, the first transsexual who underwent a sex change operation in the island in 1988, reported IPS.
