On Wednesday, February 24, at 5:00 p.m. in the Huron Azul (17th and H, in Vedado) will be performances by El Ambia with rumba musicians Clave y Guaguanco and the Rumberos de Cuba.

In the Museo de la Orfebrería (the Silversmithing Museum), (113 Obispo, in Habana Vieja), the exhibit “Alegorias” will be inaugurated on February 20, at 3:00 p.m.

On Friday February 19, at 7:00 p.m. in the Sala Villena of the National Union of Cuban Writers And Artists (UNEAC, at 17th and H, in Vedado), will be the premiere of the documentary “Yo soy tumbero,” by producer Bilko Cuervo. The Tumba Francesa is a musical dance manifestation that was introduced in Cuba early last century through Haitian immigration to the island.

On Thursday, February 18, at 4:00 p.m. at the Palacio de Gobierno (Ave del Puerto, Habana Vieja), the exhibition “Flores para mi Habana” will be inaugurated.

HAVANA TIMES, February 12 – On February 17 at 3:00 p.m. in the Museo del Tabaco (120 Mercaderes), the exhibit “Pasión y Fidelidad” will be inaugurated. Made up of pieces of diverse artistries donated by artist and collectors (craftwork, silversmithing, painting and glasswork), all works relate to the culture of tobacco. This exhibit will mark the 17th anniversary of the creation of this institution.

On Wednesday, February 17, at 5:00 p.m. in the Huron Azul (17 and H, in Vedado), the program “Trova sin Traba” will present the Conjunto Gloria Matancera, trova musician David Galarraga and the Ire quintet.

The oil paintings of artist Javier Rivera Barreiro will be on display daily at 10:00 a.m., until February 16, at the Palacio de Gobierno (Avenida del Puerto, Habana Vieja). His vision of the city, its people and the Revolution reflect a conservative perspective and are closely attached to the official party line. His is simply another voice for those of us who want a plurality of thought.

On Saturday, February 13, at Pabellon Cuba (23rd and N, in Vedado), William Vivanco will be in concert beginning at 7:00 p.m.
