Tree Trunks Became Sculptures

A large tree fell on the night of October 11, 2006 along Feline Figueredo Avenue, located in the capital of Cuba’s eastern Granma Province. A decision was therefore made to cut down the rest of the broadleaf trees on this block and substitute them with palm trees, which are plants more suited to the environment.

Calle 13 Considers Cuba Visit

The popular Puerto Rican group Calle 13 could attend the presentation of the documentary “Calle 13-Sin mapa” during the 31st New Latin American Film Festival, to be held in the Cuban capital next December 3-13.

JoJazz Prelude at Havana Club

Cuba Rebukes US at World Trade Org.

Cuba strongly criticized the U.S. blockade and described it as a failed policy during a debate in the Dispute Settlement Body of the World Trade Organization (WTC) on Section 211 of the U.S. Budget Allotment Act, which has led to litigations between both nations over the possession of trade marks registered in the island.

Denis Carbón looks too young to be 23. He also might look too skinny to play his saxophone for so long. But what he demonstrates is that appearance is not always reality – all one has to do is listen to his melodies of elegance and youthful passion. In a few days, he will be one of the participants in the annual “JoJazz” Competition-Festival for young jazz musicians.
