USAID announces $6 million in Cuba grants

The U.S. Agency for International Development on Thursday announced that it is offering $6 million in grants over a three-year period to organizations that will “provide humanitarian assistance to political prisoners and their families, and politically marginalized individuals and groups in Cuba.”

Coastal Flooding Sunday in Havana

Even though the weather was good Sunday in the capital, heavy seas invaded the Havana coastline along the Malecon seawall in the afternoon around 4:00 p.m., entering as far as five blocks to G St. and Linea, reported Granma online. Damage reports to peoples’ homes and other infrastructure will be forthcoming, most likely on Monday.
