The Czech Passer-by

Nonardo Perea

HAVANA TIMES — This one-minute and six-second long short was the first class project of my most recent course in the Czech Republic, in March 2018.

Making it was a unique and magical experience, it was the first time I had ever seen snow and I discovered the beauty of some of Mother Nature’s processes in the same way. I also discovered the solitude of many of the places I walked by, the silence that is not only found in its landscapes but in most of its people too.

Using few images, I tried to record the place that I had to reproduce with my camera and give shape to a frozen story, which froze me to my very soul, not only with the cold, but with the silences and strange existentialist thoughts I ran into along the way.

Nonardo Perea

Nonardo Perea: I see myself as an observant person and I like to write with sincerity what I think and live first hand. I’m shy and of few words; thus it’s difficult for me to engage in conversation. For that reason, my best tool for communicating is writing. I live in Marianao, Havana and am 40 years old.
