Belarus President Meets with Cuba’s Economic Czar

HAVANA TIMES — Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Thursday received Cuban “reform czar” Marino Murillo, who is on a working visit to the European nation, reported the Prensa Latina news service.

According to the note, during the talks they discussed bilateral issues and processes of economic and social development in Belarus and Cuba, but no details were given about any possible formal agreements. Both Belarus and Cuba follow Soviet-like models that emphasize highly centralized state control over the economy.

Murillo will meet other senior officials of that country, including the Prime Minister, the first deputy prime minister, as well as with Foreign Affairs, Economy, Industry, Finance and Commerce and Agriculture officials.
