Buena Vista Singer Up for Grammy

HAVANA TIMES, Feb 9 — The famous Cuban troubadour and songwriter Eliades Ochoa said yesterday at a news conference that he will not be attending the Grammy awards ceremony, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

The singer was nominated for an award in that competition in the “World Music” category for his album Afrocubismo, and ranks as the sole Cuban resident being considered for an award this year.

The event will take place in the US city of Los Angeles on Sunday.  The reason Ochoa will not be attending the awards ceremony was not provided in the press note.
