Chavez to Cuba for July 26 Festivities

HAVANA TIMES, July 21 — Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez announced Tuesday that he will travel to Cuba next Monday July 26, to participate in the anniversary of the 1953 attack on the Moncada garrison that sparked the Cuban Revolution.

While the Cuban media has not announced whether former President Fidel Castro will be attending the commemoration in Villa Clara, Chavez said he was going to Cuba “to be with Raul, Fidel and the Cuban people.”

Fidel Castro came out of seclusion on July 7th after four years outside the public eye.  His last public appearances had taken place on July 26, 2006 when he gave speeches in both Bayamo and Holguin in eastern Cuba.
