Cuba Baseball League after Six Games

HAVANA TIMES, Dec. 7 — The 90-game Cuban Baseball League starts its third three-game series on Tuesday.  After the initial six games Sancti Spiritus and La Habana lead the standings in the West with identical 5-1 records.  Meanwhile in the Eastern division Guantanamo and Ciego de Avila share the top spot with 4-2 records.

Both of last season’s finalists began the season with slow starts.  Industriales, the defending champions are 1-5 and Villa Clara, the runners-up, are 3-4.

With all games scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Industriales plays on the road against the Isle of  Youth; Metropolitanos hosts Matanzas; Pinar del Rio plays in Cienfuegos; The Western leaders scare off in Sancti Spiritus; Villa Clara hosts Holguin; Granma travels to Ciego de Avila; Santiago de Cuba hosts Camaguey and Guantanamo plays at home against Las Tunas.
