Cuba Baseball Standings on Feb. 12
HAVANA TIMES, Feb. 12 — The Cuban baseball league continues this weekend with a full schedule of play. Cienfuegos remains on top the Western Division with Pinar del Rio three games back. In the East, Ciego de Avila has a slim one game lead over Granma with Guantanamo only 1.5 games out of first.
With the two-thirds mark of the 90-game season approaching, in the Western Division a battle is shaping up between Industriales, La Habana and Sancti Spiritus for the two remaining slots to make the playoffs.
In the Eastern Division Villa Clara, Las Tunas and Santiago de Cuba are in a tough fight for fourth place.
Cienfuegos First Baseman Jose Dariel Abreu is well ahead of the pack with a whopping .438 batting average. Heading for a possible triple crown, Abreu also leads the league with 25 homers and 62 RBIs. See individual batting leaders.
Noelvis Etenza, also of Cienfuegos, leads the league in pitching ERA with a low 1.79 in a year when batters have had the upper hand over hurlers. Ismel Jimenez of Sancti Spirtius leads in games won with nine. See individual pitching leaders.
