Cuba Bids Farewell to VP Almeida
HAVANA TIMES, Sept. 13 – Juan Almeida Bosque, a Fidel Castro contemporary and revolutionary commander, was paid tribute to on Sunday, two days after he died of heart failure.
On hand for the ceremony were President Raul Castro and numerous leaders of the Cuban revolution.
Flags were flown at half mast throughout Cuba on Sunday.
The BBC noted that Almeida, one of several vice presidents, “was the only black commander in the Cuban leadership.”
