HAVANA TIMES, Oct. 31 — The Guadalajara 2011 Pan American Games came to a close on Sunday and the Cuban athletes finished in second place in the overall medals ranking, just as in the previous competitions in Rio de Janeiro 2007.

Cuba managed 58 gold medals, 35 silver and 43 bronze for a total of 136 medals.  In the 2007 Rio de Janeiro games Cuba obtained a near identical 59 gold medals, 35 silver and 41 bronze for a total of 135 medals.
