HAVANA TIMES, Oct. 12 – Cuba is carrying out a dredging program in its bays and the modernization of its port installations with the backing of Venezuela, China and Brazil, reported IPS.

Miguel Izquierdo, director of the Port Services Company of Havana, noted that the island’s ports are currently receiving only a quarter of the cargo of 1980 -at the height of Cuba’s trade with the Soviet Union and other European Socialist countries-  but plans for increased international exchange are in motion.
