Cuba VP Machado to Peru for Humala Inaug.

HAVANA TIMES, July 27 — Cuba’s First VP, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, is off to Lima, Peru for the swearing in on Thursday of President Ollanta Humala.

Machado is fresh off his role as keynote speaker at the July 26th National Rebelliousness Day commemoration held in Ciego de Avila, where he urged Cubans to work in support of the economic reforms approved by the Communist Party last April.

The 80-year-old Machado is considered an ultra-conservative among the party leadership, which is demanding obedience and discipline from the Cuban population in order to “update” the country’s socialist system.
