Cuban-American Senators Try to Block Flights to Cuba
HAVANA TIMES, Feb. 16 – Cuban-American senators Bob Menendez and Marc Rubio presented an amendment that would block any flight from the United States to the island or any other country considered a sponsor of terrorism, according to the list drawn up by Washington, reported IPS which quoted the Miami-based El Nuevo Herald. In January, President Barack Obama lifted a group of restrictions to facilitate “people-to-people” contacts between the two countries.
Menendez and Rubio favor a cold war approach to Cuba, the only country in the world that the US government forbids its ordinary citizens from visiting. Washington, via 11 administrations, has also maintained a half century economic blockade on Cuba with the goal of regime change.
